Study on Frequency of Herb-Medicine Used on the Pregnant Women

Abstract

|
|
According to oriental medical literature, every medicine had to be taken carefully during pregnancy. This research is on the investigation of the prescriptions for maintaining pregnancy and taking baby home as it is presented in the 36 oriental medical literatures.
The results obtained are as follows;
1. The prescreptions to maintain pregnancy and take baby home were 123 kinds, and the prescriptions comprised of a single herb were Gamcho, Bakchool, Nahmee and Hongjo.
2. The prescriptions comprised of multiful herbs were 117 kinds.
3. The herbs presented in the literatures with the frequency more than 100 times were Gamcho, Bakchool, Gingseng and Jakyak.
4. The nature of herb medicine presented in the literatures with the frequency more than 10 times was that the cold nature is 5 kinds, the cool is 1 kind, the plain is 1 kind, the warm is 24 kinds and the hot is 5 kinds.
5. The nature of herb medicine presented in the literature with the frequency lass than 10 times was that the cold nature is 23 kinds, the plain is 17 kinds, the warm is 34 kinds and the hot is 6 kinds.
6. Banha, one of incompatible drugs for pregnancy was presented in the literatures with the highest frequency. The frequency was 24 times.
